ORANGE LEVEL 5 WARNING ISSUED

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) had issued an orange level 5 warning for disruptive rainfall in the Eastern Cape. The warning was valid until Tuesday, 17 October 2023.

The weather service said significant amounts (50 – 100mm) of rainfall is expected over King Sabatha Dalindyebo, Port St Johns, Ingquza Hill and Mbizana Local Municipalities.

In September this year, the Eastern Cape was also battered by heavy rains which led to Eskom suspending load shedding in certain areas due to the widespread damage to electricity infrastructure caused by flooding in the coastal areas.
