Chris Bertish is an award winning surfer, environmentalist, author AND motivational speaker. In December last year he decided to undertake a journey that has never been done before, not in the way he wanted to do it at least.

Bertish will today complete his journey, the trip saw him travel by HIMSELF across the Atlantic Ocean, on a stand up paddle board (SUP). The trip took a whopping 93 days and saw Bertish start from Morocco and will see him arrive today on the Carribean Island of Antigua.

This particular SUP has been custom built with a tiny cabin for him to sleep in while floats atop the bumpy ocean. So what is Bertish’s man goal behind such a physically demanding and exhausting journey?

Giving back of course, the South African hopes to raise over R20 million by the time all is said and done. That money will go to a wide variety of charities with deal with issues such as child cleft palates, feeding hungry kids, ocean conservation and of course furthering education.

As his journey comes to a close today, Bertish nurses countless bruises, burns and a torn rotator cuff in his shoulder.  Oh, there is also the small matter of who will complete their journey first, the turtle Bertish is racing or himself? For all those details and full backstory, check out the video below. Also when 14 30 comes, the arrival will be live streamed on Facebook, check out this page for more details.
