This just in: Court rules Motsoeneng’s appointment as SABC employee invalid

Hlaudi Motsoeneng is not allowed to work at the SABC in any way shape or form, unless the broadcaster believes it has the right to dismiss the Public Protector report into his appointment.

It’s unlikely the irreverent SABC board would pay attention to the latest court order, nor should anyone hold their breath for communications minister Faith Muthambi to listen to a mere High Court order, but the Western Cape High Court on Monday ruled that Hlaudi Motsoeneng cannot work at the broadcaster at all.

”Mr Motsoeneng should not be entitled to hold any position in the SABC unless and until the Public Protector’s report is set aside or the new disciplinary committee finds in his favour,” Judge Owen Rogers ruled.

News24 reports that acting COO – Hlaudi’s previous position – Gugu Tugwana must also be booted from her position and a brand new disciplinary process must start, with Motsoeneng’s appointment remaining invalid in the meantime.
