Taxi owner killed in Alexandra

Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for suspects who shot and killed a taxi owner in Alexandra, Johannesburg

TAXI OWNER KILLED IN DRIVE-BY-SHOOTING

The 66-year-old man was shot in a drive-by shooting on Thursday morning. 

Police spokesperson, Dimakatso Sello says the victim was on his way to a local taxi rank when the armed suspects approached him.  The man was shot multiple times and was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Alexandra, Randburg, Midrand, and Sandton Taxi Association (Armsta) spokesperson, Motlanalo Tsebe confirmed that the man was a member of the organisation. 

“This morning we received news that one of our members was shot and killed shortly after leaving his home at 11th Avenue, Alexandra. As the executive, we are deeply saddened by the incident and wish that the suspects can be arrested.” 

The motive behind the shooting is still unknown and no arrests have been made at this point.

In another case, a man, vans Hlangwane allegedly poisoned his three children, aged 13, 10, and 6 years old on Wednesday.

He allegedly took the children from Ikage Primary school to his house. They stayed with their mother in River Park in Alexandra. According to a family member the two separated two years ago. Two years ago, Hlangwane got arrested for assaulting Naledi.

A source close to the family told AllAfrica that “he took them to his room, locked the door, and forced them to eat poisoned food. The children ate the food while he was holding a belt.”

SURVIVING DAUGHTER TOLD FAMILY WHAT HAPPENED

In the middle of the night, the 13-year-old woke up and said that his whole body was itchy. He then started to vomit. He was taken to the hospital, but the child died before he arrived. While the family was still dealing with the news, they got a call that the youngest was also vomiting.

The source says the survivor is the one who told her family everything.

Their father also reportedly ate the same poisonous foods. However, he was sent to the hospital and survived.
