A male suspect was arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit for the possession of a hijacked Joburg Water bakkie in the Johannesburg Inner City this week.

SUPPECT APPREHENDED DRIVING STOLEN JOBURG WATER BAKKIE

On Tuesday morning, 13 June 2023, JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said officers received a lookout for an Isuzu bakkie belonging to Joburg Water that was hijacked.

“The last tracking signal of the vehicle was in Lenasia South where the tracking device was recovered but the vehicle was not at the coordinates,” he explained.

Whilst patrolling along the M2 East Freeway near the Village Road off-ramp in Selby, Fihla said officers spotted the said hijacked vehicle driving past them and it still had the original registration number displayed.
