Suspect handed himself in, after shooting girl, 6, and her parents

A 24-year-old suspect who is accused of shooting a 6-year-old girl and her parents has handed himself to the police.

Florida authorities in the United States of America have reportedly arrested Robert Louis Singletary, Jr who is accused of shooting a 6-year-old girl and her parents after the trio attempted to retrieve a basketball out of his yard.

In a statement issued by Gaston County, N.C. on Thursday, 20 April the 24-year-old handed himself to the police around 04:45.

THE SUSPECT HANDED HIMSELF IN

“Today, Thursday April 20th, 2023, at about 4:45 pm, the Gaston County Police were notified by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Tampa, Florida, that the suspect in Tuesday’s shooting on April Drive was in custody. The suspect, 24-year-old Robert Louis Singletary, turned himself in,” reads the statement.

NAMES OF THE VICTIMS

The victim has been identified as William James White of Gastonia who suffered a gunshot wound and remained in serious condition at a Charlotte hospital.

The second victim has been identified as Ashley Hildebrand of Gastonia. She suffered a grazing gunshot wound

The 6-year-old, whose name can’t be released suffered a gunshot wound

Forth victim was identified as Derrick Kenneth Prather of Gastonia. Though he was shot at, he was not hit.

INVESTIGATION STILL ON-GOING

Singletary is scheduled to have a court appearance in Hillsborough County on Friday, 21 April.

“Although Mr. Singletary is in custody, the investigation into this shooting is on-going. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Det. J. Brienza at 704-866-3320 or Crimestoppers at 704-861-8000. A Crimestoppers reward of up to $1,000 is available for information pertinent to the investigation. There is no further information available at this time,” added the statement.
