A student is among three people who were declared dead following a shooting in Braamfontein.

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon, 29 February. Graphic videos and images of the incident are circulating on social media.

THREE KILLED IN BRAAMFONTEIN SHOOTING

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in Gauteng, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, said unknown suspects shot two men who were inside a parked vehicle.

Consequently, during the shooting, a university bus was also caught in the crossfire, and two students were shot.

Nevhuhulwi said unfortunately, the men in the vehicle and one student were declared dead, while the other student was taken to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.

“Police have opened a case of murder and attempted murder. The motive of the shooting is subject to police investigation. No one has been arrested,” she added.

According to reports, the shooting is taxi-related and the two men were targeted. Allegedly, the two were coming from a taxi association meeting when they were gunned down.
