Eskom on Friday, 25 August confirmed its load shedding schedule for the upcoming weekend.
The update confirmed that the current situation of Stage 3 between 16:00 and 05:00 the following morning with Stage 1 in effect between 05:00 and 16:00 will continue until further notice.

Those rugby fans wishing to watch the Springboks play the All Blacks on Friday at 20:30 (SA time) are encouraged to make plans as Stage 3 will be in operation at kick-off.

Eskom pleaded with the public to switch off non-essential appliances – in particular geysers and pool pumps – to reduce the demand, especially between 17:00 and 21:00.

Eskom operates a number of notable power stations, including Matimba Power Stations and Medupi Power Station in Lephalale, Kusile Power Station in Witbank, Kendal Power Station in Mpumalanga, and Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in the Western Cape, the only nuclear power plant in Africa.

Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town adjusted its schedule following the Eskom announcement.
City of Cape Town customers will experience Stage 1 load shedding until 22:00 on Friday, at which point Stage 3 will kick in until 05:00 on Saturday.
The City of Cape Town will then follow Eskom’s plan for the weekend.
