In other news, members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) raided the last known hideout of the escaped rapist and murderer Thabo Bester on Tuesday, 4 April.

In some shocking news, the widow of the late Chief Clyde Mnisi was brutally gunned down in their family home on Tuesday morning, just two days after his burial.

And lastly, an Advocate in the Office of the State Attorney, Hassan Ebrahim Kajee, has been arrested on numerous fraud charges. The accused appeared before the Johannesburg Regional Court on Monday, 3 April.

Look: SNOWFALL confirmed NOW in these parts of SA

The first SNOW of the year was reported in several parts of SA on Tuesday, and more snow is expected this weekend. 

Here is where snow was reported: 

  • Southern Drakensberg area
  • Bushmans Nek area near Underberg 
  • Ugie in the Eastern Cape

More snow is expected in parts of the Western Cape, Lesotho, Drakensberg mountains and possibly also the mountainous areas of the Northern Eastern Cape this weekend.

WATCH: One of the longest passenger ships in the world docked in Durban

One of the longest passenger ships in the world, the luxury passenger cruise liner docked in Durban’s old harbour on Monday.

According to a report by Truck and Freight, the 950 crew members and 2 000 passengers of Queen Mary 2 were given a warm Durban welcome by Zulu dancers and singers as they disembarked.

WATCH: Manhunt for Thabo Bester continues as police raid his Hyde Park hideout

Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) raided the last known hideout of the escaped rapist and murderer Thabo Bester on Tuesday, 4 April.

Bester faked his death and escaped from Mangaung Correctional Centre in May 2022. The police launched a manhunt for him and all persons of interest in the case recently. He remains at large.

BREAKING: Chief’s widow gunned down just two days after his burial

The widow of the late Chief Clyde Mnisi was brutally gunned down in their family home on Tuesday morning, just two days after his burial.

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the lifeless body of 30-year-old Charlene Felicity Mathews was found around 01:10 am on Tuesday.

Invoice impossible: Lawyer in Office of the State Attorney nabbed for fraud

An Advocate in the Office of the State Attorney, Hassan Ebrahim Kajee, has been arrested on numerous charges of fraud. The accused appeared before the Johannesburg Regional Court on Monday, 3 April.

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) said Kajee was granted R20 000 bail. His next court appearance is expected on 25 May.

The SIU investigation revealed that Kajee – who was appointed to represent the State in various matters – inflated invoices, invoiced for services not actually rendered and overcharged for services rendered.
