The EFF maintains that the Reserve Bank is being used to exonerate President Cyril Ramaphosa and his role in the Phala Phala saga. 

The Democratic Alliance (DA) strongly condemns the Patriotic Alliance (PA) for their extravagant behavior at a Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) party.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Kenny Kunene, known as the PA’s “Sushi King,” can be observed leading a toast with expensive French champagne barrels.

The Department of Defence (DOD) has provided clarity about the status and citizenship of its acting Chief Financial Officer, Edem Abotsi.

Phala Phala: EFF to take Reserve Bank report on review

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has announced that the party intends approaching the courts to challenge the South African Reserve Bank’s report on the Phala Phala scandal.

Malema held a media briefing on Sunday, 27 August 2023, on outcomes of the EFF’s Central Command Team meeting in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg.

After approximately a year of investigating the sale of Ankole cattle on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s farm, the SARB said it could not conclude whether the president or Ntaba Nyoni Estates, which owns the Phala Phala farm, violated foreign exchange laws in the transaction.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has urged road users and the public to stay clear of the section of Lillian Ngoyi Street that was affected by the gas explosion in the Joburg CBD last month.

On 19 July, an underground gas explosion turned the Joburg CBD upside down. The disaster left one person killed and more than 40 people injured.

Department of defence clarifies citizenship of its CFO Edem Abotsi

The Department of Defence (DOD) has provided clarity about the status and citizenship of its acting Chief Financial Officer Edem Abotsi.

This comes as Abotsi’s appointment sparked outrage and concerns from social media users considering the fact that he is originally from Ghana.

In a statement, the department said it has noted social media posts questioning the status and citizenship of Abotsi and the position he is occupying.

Homeless man burnt alive

In the early hours of the morning (Sunday), community patrollers burnt a homeless man to death in Verulam, Kwazulu Natal.

During his patrol, a member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was alerted about the occurrence by a bystander.

When the response officers spoke with the surviving homeless man, he revealed that he and a friend are vagrants.

MEC Maile to visit Itireleng after five children perish in a shack fire

Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development Lebogang Maile will visit Itireleng informal settlements near Laudium in Pretoria after five children perished in a shack fire.

The five children were burnt beyond recognition in the early hours on Sunday, 27 August.

Maile is expected to visit Itireleng to assess the situation following the fire that destroyed multiple shacks and claimed the lives of five young victims.
