Extreme COLD, rain and snow expected across South Africa

Extreme COLD conditions, rain, and snow are expected across South Africa. 

According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), the conditions are expected for the remainder of this week. 

“These conditions are expected to result from the passage of a cut-off low (COL), which is currently situated along the west coast of the country. Very cold temperatures have already set in on the western regions of the Free State and North West provinces.”

WATCH: Homes flooded and vehicles damaged in KZN flash floods

Homes were flooded, and vehicles were damaged in KwaZulu-Natal in the flash floods this week.

Reaction Unit SA (RUSA)spokesperson Prem Balram said several homes were flooded, and dozens of vehicles were left damaged during flash flooding in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday afternoon.

“Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to approximately 40 call-outs pertaining to flooding from 16:15.

“Reaction Officers evacuated a family of four from their residence in Woodmanor Place in Trenance Manor after a stream at the rear of the property widened and burst its banks.”Prem Balram

Tornado aftermath: Here are WORST affected schools in KZN

The devastating tornado that was accompanied by flooding in part of KwaZulu-Natal, precisely Durban, has left a number of schools destroyed.

As government and non-governmental agencies descended on areas that were extremely battered by the tornado, some schools made the casualty list.

After their efforts to conduct risk assessments were hindered due to lighting and floods yesterday, Gift of the Givers hit the ground running this morning by visiting a number of affected sites including a school.

‘Not even close to being racist’: Malusi Booi defends Helen Zille

Former City of Cape Town MMC for Human Settlements Malusi Booi has defended Democratic Alliance (DA) Federal Council Chairperson Helen Zille saying she is not racist.

This comes as the suspended DA leader in the Eastern Cape Nqaba Bhanga took to Facebook and labelled Zille, the most racist person.

In the Facebook post, Bhanga labelled Zille as a racist and also said she worked together with the ANC to destroy him.

‘Life changing win’: Bloemfontein man turns R15 PowerBall ticket into R23 million

A Bloemfontein man turned R15 into over R23 million when he struck the PowerBall PLUS jackpot on Tuesday, 20 June. The winner, who is employed as a temporary worker, opted for the manual number selection method.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Ithuba he kept the winning ticket worth R23 044 341,60 under his mattress until he could go to the national lottery operator’s offices to claim the winnings.
