Four pygmy sperm whales washed out on Dias Beach in Mosselbay on Tuesday afternoon.

The Mossel Bay Municipality‘s environmental team has closed the beach until further notice while efforts were being made to rescue the whales.

From provisional reports, three adults and one juvenile whale were stranded.

According to Medi Response spokesperson Paul Herbst, the woman and two others had been building sand castles on the beach when a notable amount of sand engulfed her.

Field ranger severely injured in elephant attack in Kruger National Park

A field ranger was severely injured when an elephant charged and attacked him while he was on patrol in the Pretoriuskop Section.

SANParks spokesperson Isaac Phaahla said the attack happened on Tuesday at around 08:00.

“An elephant had severely injured a Field Ranger while he was on patrol in the Pretoriuskop Section, in the south-western part of Kruger National Park (KNP).”
