Lesufi told reporters that his letter to the presidency did not ask for permission to use state funds for AKA’s funeral. Instead, the Gauteng provincial government wanted to honour the late musician by draping his coffin with the nation’s flag and flying flags in the province at half-mast.

Five workers are counting their blessings after they were rescued from a truck that submerged into a flooded low-lying bridge in Mpumalanga today, Thursday, 16 February.
The Provincial Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala confirmed that five workers contracted to Transnet narrowly survived as they escaped death when their truck was swept away whilst trying to cross the bridge at Schuilspruit dam in Amersfoort this morning, Thursday 16 February 2023 at about 08:00.
According to information, the five workers, one female and four males of which two were inside the truck and three on the truck’s rooftop were rescued by the police and other stakeholders including Emergency Medical Services, Fire Department and other locally based community structures.
