You can collect your SASSA grants for APRIL starting next week, and the great news is that the long-awaited increases will be reflected.

In other news, the Electoral Court has given the green light for the Jacob Zuma-backed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party to contest the general elections on 29 May 2024, striking down the ANC’s attempt to get the party deregistered.

Meanwhile, it is highly probable that embattled Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula will survive the motion of no confidence in her.

Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa has approved Ladysmith’s town name change under Section 10 (2) of the South African Geographical Names Council Act (Act No 118 of 1998).

Lastly, the minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Blade Nzimande, addressed the South Africans about the deregistration of the four Educor colleges.

BREAKING: MK Party will be on the election ballot come 29 May

The Electoral Court has given the green light for the Jacob Zuma-backed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party to contest the general elections come 29 May 2024, with the court striking down the ANC’s attempt to get the party deregistered.

In handing down the judgment, the court said the deregistration of the MK Party now would not give the party enough time to register again.

Acting Speaker accepts motion against Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula

The acting speaker of the National Assembly, Lechesa Tsenoli, has accepted the motion of no confidence in embattled Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

The DA formally tabled the motion following shocking R4.5 million graft allegations against Mapisa-Nqakula during her tenure as defence minister. She is facing 12 counts of corruption and money laundering allegations.

Blade Nzimande slams Educor for compliance failures

The minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Blade Nzimande, addressed the South Africans on the deregistration of the four Educor colleges.

Over the past few days the Department of Higher Education has been receiving queries on the deregistered Educor institution that has left many students in panic.

Government approves name change for Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal

Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa has approved the Ladysmith’s town name change under Section 10 (2) of the South African Geographical Names Council Act (Act No 118 of 1998).

The Government Gazette published the name change on 22 March 2024. Henceforth, the town formerly known as Ladysmith will be referred to as uMnambithi.
