JUST IN: Parliament passes CONTROVERSIAL National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill

News just in, the National Assembly passed the controversial National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill on Tuesday.

According to a report by News24 a total of 205 MPs in the parliament voted in favour of the NHI Bill, while 125 voted against it.

Level 6 WARNING: Heavy rain, flooding in Cape Town, Winelands

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Yellow Level 6 and Level 2 rain warning for the Western Cape on Tuesday, 13 June. The more severe Level 6 warning has a high chance of significant weather-based impacts.

The warning is valid from midnight on Wednesday, 14 June, until midnight on Thursday, as a series of cold fronts are expected over most parts of the Western Cape and Northern Cape on those days.

“Rainfall accumulations of about 25 to 30 millimetres can be expected, reaching 40 to 45 millimetres over high-lying areas of the West Coast, southeastern Cape Winelands and western Overberg districts on Wednesday and Thursday,” said the weather service.

Young father shot and killed by wife in Limpopo hunting accident

A young father was shot and killed by his wife in an alleged hunting accident on Koekoeskop farm near Northam in Limpopo.

The shooting accident reportedly happened last week while their three-year-old son was watching.

According to a report by Netwerk24, the 31-year-old Freek Kloppers was shot and killed by his wife Megen (25) on his farm in Limpopo last week on Tuesday.

No one cares about us’: Meyiwa family slams postponement [watch]

Senzo Meyiwa’s sister, Nomalanga, says they’ll have to wait another ten years to find out what happened to the late goalkeeper.

Nomalanga was at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria and was reacting to yet another postponement of the soccer star’s murder trial.

On Monday, 12 June, the trial was postponed to 17 July 2023 as Presiding Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela was ill and will not be available for a long time.

Speaking after the postponement, an emotional Nomalanga who also shed tears said they were very disappointed because they had to spend money travelling from Durban to Pretoria. Still, no one bothered to tell them there would be a postponement.

Zanda Moyo: Ninth Thabo Bester accomplice appears in court – this is how he allegedly helped

A 31-year-old suspect appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court for allegedly helping convicted serial rapist Thabo Bester escape prison.

Zanda Moyo, 31, faces four charges – aiding and abetting a convict, harbouring an escaped convict, violation of a body and fraud.

According to reports, the accused allegedly helped Bester’s lover, Nandipha Magudumana, claim Katlego Bereng’s body. The body was used as a decoy during the May 2022 escape.
