Sixteen injured after taxi veers off the road in Vereeniging

Sixteen people were injured after a taxi they were travelling in veered off the road in Vereeniging, Gauteng.

Sixteen people were injured when the taxi they travelled in veered off the Houtkop and Waterdal intersection in Sonlandpark, Vereeniging on Friday.

TAXI VEERS OFF THE ROAD IN VEREENIGING

ER24 and other services reportedly arrived on the scene at 07h50 to find the taxi upright in the veld. 

According to ER24, several people were seen walking around the taxi while others were seated on the roadside.

“Medics assessed the patients and found that fourteen adults had sustained minor to moderate injuries while two adults had sustained serious to critical injuries.

“Medics treated the patients and provided the two seriously injured with advanced life support. After treatment, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further care. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”

MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SHOOTING

In a separate incident also in Sonlandpark, Vereeniging, a 31-year-old man was seriously injured in a shooting on Skippie Botha Road on Friday.

According to ER24, paramedics arrived around 09:45 to find the man lying in the veld, surrounded by several security officers.

“Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a serious gunshot wound to his leg, leaving him in a severe condition.
The man was treated and provided with advanced life support before being transported to a provincial hospital under the supervision of the local authorities. The exact details surrounding this incident are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
