Six ARRESTED for several crimes, including attempted MURDER

The police have arrested six suspects aged between 40 and 42 for attempted murder, attempted robbery, impersonating a police officer, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Shootout when attempted murder suspects try to flee

The police arrested the suspects in different areas after they attempted to rob a farm on Tuesday, 14 February.

There were no reported injuries despite a shootout that occurred during the suspects’ attempt to flee.

During the search of three vehicles, police recovered the following:

• A police reflector jacket
• 58 rounds of ammunition
• Four unlicensed firearms, including two rifles and two pistols

Two of the recovered firearms belonged to the complainant. The suspects appeared in the Kokstad Magistrate’s Court.

Preliminary investigations by the police have confirmed that these suspects also robbed the same family on Tuesday, 7 February, while posing as police officers.

The authorities will conduct ballistic testing on the firearms to determine if they were used in any crimes.
