Seven therapy chatbot apps to help support your mental health

Chatbot apps have become the go-to sources to confide in when you feeling sad, anxious or overwhelmed with your mental wellness journey.

With recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI), chatbot apps have become the go-to sources to confide in when you feeling sad, anxious or overwhelmed with your mental wellness journey.

CHATBOT NOT HERE TO REPLACE THE HUMAN ELEMENT

However, these chatbot apps aren’t meant to be a replacement for a life coach, counsellor, or a psychotherapist, but they can help fill the gap when one isn’t available.

For World Mental Health Day (10 October), TCL suggests the following chatbot apps and websites that provide mental wellness support: 

1.      JungGPT


Jung GPT is an emotional reflection tool designed as an advanced AI chat support system. Rather than being just another chatbot, Jung GPT encourages users to venture into their feelings and indulge in profound dialogues.

2.      Mindsum Bot

Mindsum AI Bot is a conversational bot powered by OpenAI and custom-trained models. It helps you understand your mental health, find useful tips, and feel better. Whether you’re feeling sad, anxious, stuck or just want to speak your mind, Mindsum is there to listen and help you work through it.

3.      SommerAI

Sommer is a ChatGPT-based web app that uses cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) to help you work through your thoughts and feelings.

4.      Thought Coach

This is a simple website app that helps you to reframe negative thoughts. It helps you to address cognitive distortions—irrational, exaggerated, or unhelpful thought patterns that have the potential to negatively impact your mental and emotional well-being. 

5.      Youper

This Android app uses CBT to calm anxiety and improve your mood. CBT is based on practical exercises to help you think more clearly, deal with stressful situations, and take control of your emotions. Youper is available at your own time and schedule wherever and whenever you need it.
