Legal representative for accused 1 – 4 in Senzo Meyiwa murder trial is expected to continue with the cross-examination of Tumelo Madlala.

Legal representative for accused 1 – 4 Timothy Thobane is expected to continue with the cross-examination of State witness, Tumelo Madlala, in the ongoing murder trial of slain Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa.

Madlala has been in the witness box at the North Gauteng High Court since Tuesday, 13 September and the defence kicked off with the cross-examination on Thursday, 15 September.

Senzo Meyiwa was shot at his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus in Ekurhuleni on 26 October 2014 in what the State alleges was a robbery.

The five men who are currently on trial for the murder of the late goalkeeper; Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Ncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Ntuli were arrested in 2020. They all pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Court proceedings normally start at 10:00 and adjourn at 11:15 for a tea break. They resume at 11:30 and adjourn again at 13:00 for lunch and resume at 14:00. However, due to unforeseen circumstances on a particular day there are delays and sometimes court adjourns for either tea or lunch earlier than the set times indicated above.
