Accused 2 in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case, Bongani Ntanzi will continue testifying in the trial at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

The trial within a trial looks into the admissibility of confessions allegedly made by Ntanzi accused 1 Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya.

BONGANI NTANZI TESTIFIES IN THE SENZO MEYIWA MURDER TRIAL

Ntanzi has been on the witness box since Thursday, 8 February and testified about events surrounding his arrest in 2020.

Ntanzi told the court about how police allegedly tortured him and went as far as suffocating him with a plastic bag.

He also alleged that lead investigaot Brigadier Bongani Gininda offered him R3 million to implicate the right people for the murder of Meyiwa.

Five men are on trial for the murder of Meyiwa who was shot at the home of his girlfriend and singer Kelly Khumalo on 26 October 2014. The men are Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli.

The men face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence, and possession of ammunition. They have all pleaded not guilty.

WHEN DO COURT PROCEEDINGS START?

Court proceedings typically start at 10:00, adjourn at 13:00 for lunch and resume again at 14:00. However, due to unforeseen circumstances on a particular day, there are delays, and sometimes court adjourns for either tea or lunch earlier than the set times indicated above.
