Fourth State witness and Senzo Meyiwa’s friend Mthokozisi Thwala told the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria how singer and the late goalkeeper’s girlfriend Kelly Khumalo refused to hand over his belongings to his family.

Thwala continued with his testimony on Wednesday, 3 May.

Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead on 26 October 2014 at the home of his girlfriend and singer Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus, Gauteng in an alleged botched robbery.

Mthokozisi Thwala was one of the people who were present when Meyiwa was shot and is in the witness box giving his version of what happened before and after his friend was shot.

On Wednesday, 4 May, Thwala told the court that he was sent by the Meyiwa family to fetch Senzo’s ID a few days after the incident and Khumalo refused. Thwala said he took the Meyiwa family to Mulbarton where the goalkeeper and Khumalo lived together. Furthermore, he said Khumalo also refused to hand over the late goalkeeper’s clothes saying he would tell her in a dream what do with them.

“We were accompanied by police and they spoke to Kelly. She ended up giving them the ID, but regarding to Senzo’s clothes, she said she would not give them. It was Senzo who would tell her through a dream what she should do with his clothes,” Thwala said.
