The trial of the five men accused of killing former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa is expected to resume on Monday, 23 October at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

On Friday, presiding judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng ruled that the recording of an alleged confession by accused 2 Bongani Ntanzi will not form part of the evidence in the trial which looks into the admissibility of the confessions allegedly made by Ntanzi and accused 1 Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya.

Five men are on trial at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria for the murder of the soccer star, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli. They face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence and possession of ammunition.

All five men pleaded not guilty as the trial has started afresh under Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng.

Court proceedings normally start at 10:00, adjourn at 13:00 for lunch and resume again at 14:00. However, due to unforeseen circumstances on a particular day there are delays and sometimes court adjourns for either tea or lunch earlier than the set times indicated above.
