SASSA warns clients about FAKE message circulating

SASSA took to social media to warn their clients about a fake message regarding a R700 grant application form circulating online.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has warned beneficiaries about fake information that has been circulating on social media.

The Agency warned clients of a fake message

The false information claims that a R700 grant application form for this year is out. It then goes on to coerce those who see it to apply for the grant through online registration.

There are quite a few grammatical errors in the message which is important to note.

SASSA asked clients who come across the message to either ignore it or delete it.

SASSA tweeted an image of the fake notice with the caption reading:

“SASSA warns clients against the below FAKE information. This message does not come from SASSA. Kindly ignore or delete it.”

The message is detailed and contains a link that is not from the Agency

The FAKE message reads:

“The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) R700 Grant Application Form 2022 is Out. The online registration exercise which is the quickest to apply for is now out for all bonafide citizens only who needs helping hands in their various activities. 

All South Africans under the age 18-65 years can apply

Over 55,000 citizens received R350 find grant in 20 U/2021 due to covid.In 2022 Over 575,000 citizens will receive R700 payment, This is part of SASSA 2022 budget to support all South African Citizens. The Payments have just began for all applicants, Register To be part of the Beneficiaries.

SASSA warns R350 grant beneficiaries of a NEW scam

Previously, it was reported that the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) advised R350 grant beneficiaries to continue to verify their contact details. SASSA says this must be done to ensure that the details are still correct. 

The agency issued a statement following the news that the Customer Care Unit received a number of calls. The calls are from beneficiaries who were complaining that their contact details were changed.

According to SASSA, there is a WhatsApp message circulating. The message is from scammers who offer to assist applicants with doing their applications. The scammers request the personal details of the beneficiaries. Read the full story here.
