South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiaries who use the Postbank issued gold cards can now access their social grants.

This comes as pensioners could not access their grants on Tuesday, 5 September due to a technical glitch.

SASSA SOCIAL GRANTS CAN BE ACCESSED

In a statement, Postbank said the technical difficulty that affected SASSA beneficiaries has been resolved for all ATM and Post Office branch transactions.

“This means that SASSA customers using the Postbank issued gold cards can now immediately access their social grants via ATM and Post Office branches.

Postbank said the processing of the reversals of funds debited on the accounts that declined since yesterday due to a system error is underway.

“Beneficiaries that have attempted withdrawals since yesterday are urged to give this process some time before attempting any further transactions. It is anticipated that the funds will be reversed into all beneficiaries’ accounts approximately in the next 24 hours,” Postbank spokesperson Bongani Dako said.

POSTBANK STILL WORKING ON RESTORING TRANSACTIONS AT RETAILERS TO FULL CAPACITY

Furthermore, Dako said Postbank’s technical teams are working on restoring transactions inside retailers to full capacity as there are still intermittent challenges with transactions performed through this channel.

“Social grants recipients are advised that the technical challenges experienced with grant withdrawals since yesterday are an isolated incident that is not related to the validity of the Postbank SASSA gold cards. The cards remain valid as a means of accessing social grants payments despite the expiry date written on them until Postbank replaces,” Dako added.
