The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released the payment dates for March 2023.

SASSA PAYMENT DATES FOR MARCH

As previously reported by The South African, in 2022, SASSA said it heard beneficiaries’ complaints about the previous payment schedule and decided to make a change.

SASSA said if the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will take place on the following work day. Older person and the associated grants are paid first followed by disability grants and child grants.

Older persons and their associated grants will be paid on Thursday, followed by disability grants on Friday and children’s grants – plus all others – on Monday, the following week with the dates as follows:

Older persons – Thursday, 2 March

Disability grants – Friday, 3 March

Children’s grants – Monday, 6 March

Meanwhile, SASSA social grant beneficiaries have been urged to continue using their Postbank-issued gold cards and to use the multiple ways available to access their funds, including retailers and ATMs.

“Social grant clients with the gold card can continue using the same card as it remains valid at any place that accepts bank card transactions. Beneficiaries can also use the gold card at outlets nationwide that provide the cashback functionality, which includes Shoprite, Checkers, U-save, Pick ‘n Pay and Boxer,” the agency said.

Beneficiaries can still collect their social grants at the South African Post Office (SAPO) except for those receiving the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.
