Here’s everything you should know for next year.

SASSA Grants for 2024

There have been calls to raise and extend the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant from this year. Grants have increased marginally in 2023, though there is still no official news about whether social grant payments will increase again in 2024.

If you pass the means test, you can continue to collect your SASSA grant as usual. Applications that are declined or fail the menas test will have to be reassessed, according to their terms.

Postbank Says…

News from September reported about the social grant Postbank malfunction, which saw many South Africans unable to collect their grants. According to Postbank, the system issues have been fixed. If you have a Postbank account, your social grant can continue to be paid into your account as normal.

Many netizens have still chosen to add their banking details to SASSA, to receive their grants in another bank account.

The SASSA Gold Card

SASSA gold cards will not expire in December 2023, as previously reported by the social grant agency. If you have a social grant card, it can still be valid in 2024 as reported by The South African website.

The update means that grant recipients don’t have to worry about card renewal as soon as originally thought.
