SAPS Commissioner wishes success to police officers at Cape Town Marathon

South African Police Service’s National Commissioner (SAPS), Gen Fannie Masemola, wished 235 officers in the Cape Town Marathon success.

In a show of support for fitness and well-being within the South African Police Service (SAPS), the National Commissioner, Gen Fannie Masemola, extended his best wishes to 235 police officers participating in the 42.2 km Sanlam Cape Town Marathon.

“By taking part in marathons, this is another way of promoting and encouraging fitness within the SAPS. We continue to encourage and implement wellness and fitness programs. To ensure police officers are always fit to respond to the call of duty,” said Masemola.

SAPS encourages its members to do what?

The SAPS, which boasts a wide array of sporting codes, including athletics, rugby, and soccer. Encourages its members to maintain a high level of fitness and overall health.

In addition to these initiatives, the organization has a robust fitness policy that mandates regular fitness tests and assessments for operational members.

What did Lt Gen Patekile affirm?

Lt Gen Thembisile Patekile, the Provincial Commissioner of Western Cape, affirmed that SAPS members are fully prepared to ensure the safety and security of participants and supporters during the marathon.

“Our members are already on the ground heightening police visibility. We are here to ensure the race takes place in a safe and secure environment.

Masemola added, “To the participants in this year’s Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, the men and women in blue of the SAPS are standing firmly behind you, extending their best wishes and good luck for the event.”
