Residents and motorists in the City of Cape Town are advised of road closures in the CBD, Atlantic Seaboard and the southern suburbs due to the Sanlam Marathon.

ROAD CLOSURES BECAUSE OF THE SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON

The City of Cape Town said the 42,2 km marathon will take athletes from the start line outside the DHL Stadium, out to Newlands via Nelson Mandela Boulevard passing through Woodstock, Salt River and Mowbray before reaching the CBD and Sea Point.

Due to the marathon, a number of roads in the CBD and surroundings will be closed periodically to traffic on Sunday, 15 October 2023.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security Alderman JP Smith said the City will deploy its safety and security services to assist in management of logistics and safety in and around the event footprint.

“Traffic services will be working with event marshals at crucial intersections in various areas to ensure minimal disruptions to the movement of traffic, assisting residents to move through various detours while also safeguarding the race route.

“We would like to advise those who will be on the road during this time to please exercise patience and heed the signs for detours,” Smith said.
