Robbery suspects arrested after HIGH-SPEED CHASE

Two robbery suspects were apprehended following a high-speed chase in the Germiston area, east of Johannesburg.

Two robbery suspects were apprehended following a high-speed pursuit in the Germiston area on Tuesday, 27 June.

SECURITY COMPANIES TEAM UP TO NAB ROBBERY SUSPECTS

According to CPS Security, information was received of a high-speed chase taking place between Fox Security and the suspects after a robbery was committed in the Raceview area.

“The suspects’ vehicle was spotted by our Tactical units in the south crest area and our team began to chase after it. The vehicle was successfully stopped on Wits Rifle Drive in Germiston by our team where both driver and passenger were arrested,” CPS Security reported.

HIGH-SPEED CHASE ENDS IN ARREST

Fox Security confirmed that its Tactical Units spotted the vehicle after a robbery was committed in the Raceview area and CPS security gave them back up in the south crest area.

“The vehicle was successfully stopped by CPS on Wits rifle drive in Germiston where both driver and passenger were arrested. Housebreaking implements, stolen items, number plates etc were found in the vehicle,” Fox Security further confirmed.

Furthermore, the Germiston Task Team transported the robbery suspects to the Germiston Police Station.

BREAK-INS ON THE RISE IN THE EAST RAND

It is reported that these suspects have been linked to several other robberies whereby members of the public were also robbed in the Alberton and Germiston areas.

Meanwhile, there has been a reported increase in break-ins in the Alberton, east of Johannesburg, Gauteng area. However, some of these worrying attempts were foiled by local security companies.

Here are tips to deter a break-in, courtesy of Co-operators:

  1. Change passcodes on electronic locks and garage doors from time to time.
  2. Keep your windows covered and your garage locked so valuable items are out of sight.
  3. Install motion sensor lights, deadbolt locks and upgrade patio/sliding glass door locks.
  4. Trim shrubs and bushes to eliminate hiding spots, and never hide keys outside.
  5. Don’t announce your vacation or trips on social media.
