Reminder: SASSA grant payments THIS WEEK

Just two more days until the first SASSA beneficiaries receive their payout. Take a look at payment dates for this month until March 2024

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) will be making payments this week to beneficiaries starting on Wednesday. 

SASSA AUGUST PAYMENT DATES 

The following beneficiaries can expect to receive their money in a few days.

2 August- Older person’s grant 

3 August- Disability grant (and all grants associated with it)

4 August- Child support grant (and all grants associated with it)

Thereafter all other grants will be paid out. Beneficiaries of the social relief in distress grant (SRD) will be paid out once they have been approved. 

PAYMENT DATES UNTIL MARCH 2024

Earlier this year, the agency released the payment dates for the entire financial year.

In order to qualify for a disability grant, the applicant must be assessed by a Sassa recognised medical practitioner. 

Once the assessment is completed, they will make a recommendation to Sassa if they believe that your impairment is severe enough to not be able to work. 

The assessment will also determine whether the impairment is temporary and may warrant future medical assessments. 

A part front the medical assessment here are a few more requirements:

  • The applicant must be a South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee.
  • The applicant must be resident in South Africa.
  • The applicant must be 18 to 59 years of age.
  • The applicant must submit a medical / assessment report confirming permanent, severe disability.
  • The applicant’s medical assessment must not be older than 3 months at date of application.
  • The applicant and spouse must meet the requirements of the means test.
  • The applicant must not be maintained or cared for in a State Institution.
  • The applicant must not be in receipt of another social grant in respect of him or herself
