A 12 year-old boy was shot dead in Braemar, KZN after climbing a tree in search of fresh fruit.
An 87 year-old man is being investigated for murder after shooting 12 year-old Bongumusa Duma.
Duma was climbing a tree in Braemar, KZN, looking for fresh fruit when the man mistook him for a monkey and opened fire with his shotgun.
According to the South Coast Herald, the boy was hit in his head and upper body and died on the scene.
“An 87-year-old man mistook the boy in the tree for a monkey and shot him with a licensed shotgun,” Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum told the newspaper.
