The City of Tshwane warned residents to expect water supply issues in some suburbs due to emergency repair work by Rand Water on a water leak.

Rand Water is currently working on the B8 pipeline from Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant to Mapleton Booster Pumping Station until 12:00 noon.
“According to Rand Water, the leak is increasingly serious and will result in an increase in non-revenue water. The repair will take 8 hours to conclude. During this period, the Mapleton System will be reduced by 82%.”

Municipality spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said that the shutdown will result in the depletion of water in some reservoirs.
“We apologise for the inconvenience that may be encountered as a result of the above-mentioned repairs. The reservoirs will be filled before the shutdown. Roaming water tankers will be arranged for all affected areas.”
