Rand Water implements emergency shutdown in Tshwane
According to Rand Water, the repair will take 8 hours, from to conclude and during this period, the Mapleton System will be reduced by 82%.

The City of Tshwane warned residents to expect water supply issues in some suburbs due to emergency repair work by Rand Water on a water leak.

RAND WATER WORKING ON B8 PIPELINE IN ZUIKERBOSCH
Rand Water is currently working on the B8 pipeline from Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant to Mapleton Booster Pumping Station until 12:00 noon.
“According to Rand Water, the leak is increasingly serious and will result in an increase in non-revenue water. The repair will take 8 hours to conclude. During this period, the Mapleton System will be reduced by 82%.”

MUNICIPLAITY SPOKESPERSON ON THE SHUTDOWN
Municipality spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said that the shutdown will result in the depletion of water in some reservoirs.
“We apologise for the inconvenience that may be encountered as a result of the above-mentioned repairs. The reservoirs will be filled before the shutdown. Roaming water tankers will be arranged for all affected areas.”

The following areas will be affected:
Garsfontein Reservoir which feeds the following reservoirs
- Eersterust Reservoir: Despatch, Eersterust, Jan Niemandpark, Mamelodi, Silvertondale, and Waltloo
- Koedoesnek LL Reservoir: Die Wilgers (all extensions), Equestria (all extensions), Faerie Glen, Garsfontein, Koedoesnek AH, Life
- Magalieskruin Reservoir: Hartebeestfontein 324-JR, and Wonderboom
- Mamelodi R1 Reservoir: Mamelodi, Mamelodi Ext 13, 27 and 34, and Mamelodi 608-JR
- Mamelodi R2 Reservoir: Mamelodi, Mamelodi 608-JR, and Mamelodi Ext 13 and 15
- Moreleta Reservoir: Bellevue, Brummeria (all extensions), Chrysler Park, Georgeville, Lindo Park, Lydiana, Lynnwood Manor
- Murrayfield Reservoir: La Concorde, La Montagne, Meyerspark (all extensions), Murrayfield, Salieshoek and Val-de-Grace
- Parkmore LL Reservoir: Alphen Park, Ashley Gardens, Constantia Park, De Beers, Faerie Glen, Garsfontein, Lynnwood Glenn
