President Cyril Ramaphosa regrets ANC veteran Mavuso Msimang’s resignation but believes he’ll stay involved in national matters, respecting his decision.

Speaking in the Free State, Ramaphosa expressed disappointment but respects Msimang, hopeful he may rejoin efforts in the future.

“He was one of the veterans of the ANC that has been involved with the party for many years.”

“We do regret the decision that he has taken. I am rather pleased that he says he will continue to be involved in one shape or another in matters to do with our country.

With time maybe he will be able to participate with us again. We hold him in high regard,” said Ramaphosa.

In his resignation letter to Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula, Msimang highlights concerns about the stagnant economy, Eskom, Transnet, and corruption.

“The litany of economic and social woes—crime, unemployment, and destitution—associated with my beloved ANC is not only embarrassing but also defies enumeration.

“It is a matter of public record that for over a decade I have added my voice to many others who have consistently decried and disapproved of corruption and its harmful by-products of nepotism and incompetence.
