A suspect is under investigation after HIS 36-year-old girlfriend’s body was found in a Soweto flat on Thursday 2 September 2021. The 22-year-old man is currently under police watch but not in Gauteng. Instead, he is in a Greytown hospital in KwaZulu-Natal.

“A 22-year-old man is under police guard in a hospital in Greytown, Kwa-Zulu Natal as he is suspected to be responsible for the killing of his 36-year-old girlfriend in Soweto,” Arrive Alive said on Twitter.

“The body of the victim was discovered in a flat at Jabulani in Soweto on Thursday 02 September 2021,” the statement added.

After being informed about the possible murder, the police forced entry into a flat where the woman’s body was found. “Police received information about a woman who might have been killed and locked inside a flat in Jabulani. Police went to the flat and broke the door open. The body of a woman, with a stab wound on the upper body, was discovered.”

It seems as if the suspect was involved in the murder before skipping town from Soweto to Greytown. Additionally, the man ended up in hospital after he tried to poison himself.

“Investigations led the police to KwaZulu-Natal where the suspect was found in hospital with suspicions that he poisoned himself. The suspect was placed under police guard and will be charged with murder as soon as he recovers.”

“The investigation is underway to establish the circumstances that led to the murder,” the statement concluded.
