Over 300 suspects arrested, shebeens closed down in police operation

Law enforcement in Tshwane District including various units of police arrested over three hundred people during operation  Okae Molao in Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria.

WANTED SUSPECTS ARRESTED DURING OPERATION

Tshwane District Detective teams traced wanted suspects simultaneously, leading to the arrest of two hundred sixty-four (264). 

Among the arrested 65 were related to gender-based violence, said police spokesperson, Captain Augustinah Selepe.

“Other persons arrested during the tracing of wanted suspects included those who committed crimes such as possession of drugs, common robbery, malicious damage to property and illegal possession of a firearm,”

said Selepe.

Furthermore, the arrests also included driving under the influence of liquor, assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, contravention of the road traffic Act, possession of suspected stolen goods, murder, reckless driving, attempted business robbery, contravention of protection order, common assault, theft, common robbery, dealing in liquor without a license, shoplifting, carjacking, and attempted murder.

FURTHER ARRESTS MADE BY POLICE

Selepe said three illegal shebeens were shut down for non-compliance with the Liquor Act during the operation.

Twenty-five undocumented persons were detained to be processed by Home Affairs.

Also, three fines were issued for second-hand goods and six for crimes related to drugs.

“Aartos issued over 80 amount to more than R80 000, person searched 880 and vehicle searched 556,”

said Selepe.

The Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Thine and the senior management visited the vandalised Garankuwa training station. 

Brigadier Thine also urged the community and visitors of Tshwane to be vigilant of fraud, scams, and ATM scams.  He warned people against drinking alcohol in public areas and driving under the influence of alcohol. 

He further applauded SAPS members and other law enforcement agencies (Home Affairs, Gauteng Traffic Department, Department of Correctional Services) for the adequate work done.

MAN WANTED BY POLICE FOR SARS FRAUDSTER

Meanwhile, Nelspruit based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation is looking for Sifiso Innocent Mabuza (39) for fraud and contravention of tax administration Act after defrauding South African Revenue Services (SARS) of R28 million.

It is alleged that between 2018 and 2021, Mabuza who was the director of Shishila Rural Trading submitted fraudulent tax returns to SARS and prejudiced the receiver of revenue an amount of R28 million. 

Police said the court has issued a warrant for his arrest hence he is sought.
