Oscar Pistorius will be a FREE man TODAY. He has already served more than 10 years behind bars for the murder of Reeva Steenkamp.

Oscar Pistorius, who has spent more than eight years behind bars for the murder of his then-girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, will be FREE man TODAY.

OSCAR PISTORIUS: D-DAY FOR PAROLE BOARD’S DECISION

Pistorius was sentenced in 2017 for killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, four years previously.

According to media reports, Pistorius will spend his time as a free man at his uncle’s luxurious 12-bed, three-storey mansion located in Pretoria’s exclusive Waterkloof suburb.

He has already served 10 years behind bars, following a highly televised trial and re-trial.

Pistorius’ parole hearing comes after he successfully petitioned the Constitutional Court to confirm that his murder sentence began on 6 July 2016, when he was sentenced to six years in prison for murder by Gauteng High Court in Pretoria Judge Thokozile Masipa, and not on 24 November 2017, when the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) increased that sentence to 13 years and five months.

HE WAS SENTENCED IN 2017 FOR KILLING HIS GIRLFRIEND


The court eventually found that “by 21 March 2023 [Pistorius] had served half of his sentence as contemplated in section 73(6) of the Correctional Services Act 111 of 1998”.

Meanwhile, Reeva’s mother, June Steenkamp, notified the court before the parole hearing that she is not opposing parole this time, and an attorney will read her victim impact report to the parole board.

REEVA’S MOTHER WILL NOT BE OPPOSING THE PAROLE

June is still mourning the loss of her husband, Barry, who died earlier this year.

The Steenkamps had always been adamant that Pistorius should stay behind bars until he told the truth about how he killed their daughter.
