A truly bizarre scene played out at the N1 City Mall in Cape Town last week, after three security guards struggled to contain a suspect who had allegedly ‘exposed himself’ to a woman in a nearby store.
The clip itself has gone viral online, with many people mistaking the N1 City Mall for Menlyn. Police in Cape Town have confirmed this incident happened at the Goodwood complex, and the man at the centre of the brawl was in court at the beginning of the week. He has been processed on a ‘public indecency’ charge.
In the footage, we see the suspect handle himself (not in that way) against the three security guards called to the scene. He makes light work of two of them, chucking one against the wall and leaving another in a heap on the floor. Both enforcement officials get back to their feet, but the male in question continues to resist.
More punches are thrown, and a period of wrestling ensues, before a third guard shows up to help gain control over the situation. The video ends before the scuffle concludes, but we now know the alleged flasher was arrested on 8 September.

The 31-year-old brawler is still subject to legal proceedings, and his name hasn’t been made public. Details remain sketchy about how exactly the incident played out, but eyewitnesses said that the woman on the end of this unsolicited exposure was shaken by her ordeal. When confronted, the Cape Town man completely lost his head.
Despite receiving criticism for their attempts to defuse the situation, security guards at the N1 City Mall did play their part in the arrest – which is ultimately the most important factor, amid the ugly scenes that were caught on tape.
