A job advertisement seeking professional cuddlers recently went viral. Pro Cuddling South Africa is the brainchild of Florence Litswalo, and employees could earn approximately R480 for 90 minutes of work.

CUDDLES FOR HIRE

Litswalo told TimesLive the response to her advert for a “cuddle mate” aged 18 to 45 was overwhelming – she received over 200 applications before taking it down.

Pro Cuddling offers “professional cuddling services”, which are available 24/7. Since its launch about a year ago, the service has proven to be quite popular, and cuddlers are available in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.

The service is most popular in Gauteng with men in their late 30s, per TimesLive.

The going rate is R480 for 90 minutes, R1000 for three to six hours, R1500 for seven to 10 hours and R1700 for 11 to 12 hours.

“To travel to the client’s house and provide cuddling services. This includes the following: Cuddling services, i.e., embrace the client in a consensual and non-sexual manner.

“This means that the nature of the relationship to the client(s) is non-committal. For the duration of the session in accordance with the selected time, the client must be advised to communicate when uncomfortable for any reason. The cuddle mate must also communicate the same,” reads the job description.

Litswalo said potential cuddle mates are extensively vetted and trained, and the company stresses that no sexual intimacy is allowed during the sessions.

The founder hopes the business creates jobs. Currently, she employs 35 cuddle mates.

No experience is required.
