Darwin Nunez’s late brace saw 10-man Liverpool come from a goal down to beat Newcastle United 2-1 at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds started poorly and were punished in the 25th minute when Anthon Gordon capitalised on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s mistake. The afternoon got worse and worse for the Reds as captain Virgil van Dijk was shown a straight red for a dangerous tackle on a Newcastle player.

The Magpies bossed the game thereafter creating chance after chance as Liverpool looked defeated.
The Reds eventually got back into the match in the second half and in the 81st minute, Nunez equalised for Liverpool. The Uruguan latched onto Diogo Jota’s pass and, from a tight angle, drilled a precise low hit beyond Pope.

After the goal, the Reds smelled blood and Nunez would have the final say deep into the five additional minutes as he coolly slotted beyond Pope to complete an incredible turnaround.
A win sees Liverpool climb to fourth in the English Premier league after three games played.

The Reds will now face Aston Villa next Sunday at Anfield.
