Reminder: November SASSA payment THIS WEEK

SASSA beneficiaries are advised to report any retailer or shop that forces them to buy goods prior to paying out their SASSA grants

The elder and disability South African Social Security Agency(SASSA) grant beneficiaries can expect to receive their monies later this week.

Beneficiaries and family members are reminded that it is not only the Post Office that issues grant payments, but that they are also able to collect their money from retailers including Checkers, Spar, Shoprite, USave, Boxer and Pick n Pay stores.

In November, grants will be paid out on the following dates:

  • Older Persons/ Pensioners Grant: Thursday, 2 November
  • Disability Grant: Wednesday, Friday, 3 November
  • All other Grants: Monday, 6 November

Grant beneficiaries are also reminded that their gold cards works just like any other debit card and allows you to swipe and make purchase and withdraw money at ATM’s.

Last week the agency, reiterated that retailers may not force grant beneficiaries to make purchases before withdrawing their money.

GOLD CARD VALIDITY

Holder of the Postbank SASSA gold cards are reminded not to rush to have their cards changed as they will continue working beyond the December 2023 expiry date.

Beneficiaries who no longer wish to receive the grant money through the gold cards, are able to change and receive through their personal bank accounts.

To do so, you can:

  • Download a SASSA bank consent form from the SASSA website or visit your nearest SASSA offices to get one.
  • Fill it in a get it stamped from your bank of choice
  • Submit the form together with a bank statement and proof of account to your nearest SASSA office.
