Man killed by two escaped dogs in North West

Two dogs allegedly escaped through a hole in a fence before mauling a 47-year-old man to death in North West on Monday.

A man was mauled to death in Bloemhof, North West on Monday afternoon, 16 January. The 47-year-old was reportedly walking in the street when the dogs attacked.

DOGS KILL MAN WALKING IN BLOEMHOF

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in North West Captain Aafje Botma said the man was walking along Dorp Street, Bloemhof at approximately 16:00 when the incident occurred.

“The initial investigation indicates that the 47-year-old man was walking in the street when the dogs allegedly escaped through a hole in the fence of their yard and attacked him,” said the police spokesperson.

The dogs bit the man’s throat and he died at the scene. The police are awaiting the postmortem results while the investigation into the incident unfolds.

The dogs were removed by the Kimberley SPCA.
