In an effort to enhance water supply infrastructure, the City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate has announced planned maintenance work in specific areas, resulting in no water availability during the maintenance period.

The City acknowledges any inconvenience caused and underscores the importance of this critical work for the benefit of customers.

There will be no water on Tuesday in these areas of Cape Town

On Tuesday, 30 January, from 10:00 to 17:00, brace for water supply disruptions in the Strand area along Main Road, Beach Road, De Ruyter Street, and Algoa Street

This interruption causing no water is necessary to facilitate the safe installation of a water meter. Emphasising the significance of the maintenance initiative.

The City assures residents that it has undertaken meticulous planning to minimise the impact on water supply while addressing the broader context of planned disruptions.

The public must acknowledge that water and sanitation repair sites function as construction zones, and authorities strictly prohibit access.

Residents alerted to maintenance work complexity

Residents are also alerted to the possibility of unforeseen complexities in maintenance work, which might extend the expected duration.

After water supply restoration, expect brief discoloration or a milky appearance from trapped air in pipes. Allow water to settle in a glass for normal clarity, as advised by the City.
