Need to collect your ID? Home Affairs has extended its operation hours

Home Affairs continues to accelerate service delivery by extending operating hours for ID collection ahead of Voter Registration Weekend.

In anticipation of the 18-19 Voter Registration Weekend, the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) will open its offices for five hours on Saturday, 11 November 2023, to let individuals to pick up their passports and IDs.

The business is open from 8:00 to 13:00 on Saturday, 11 November 2023.

Smart ID and passports services only will be offered on 11 November

The only service that will be provided on 11 November 2023, is the collection of passports and smart ID cards.

Home Affairs has set up specific collection counters in its major offices that handle passports and Smart ID cards in an effort to relieve some of the strain on its clients.

“To ease pressure on its clients, Home Affairs has introduced dedicated counters for collections in large offices that process Smart ID Cards and passports, where space allows. This will help in reducing queues,” read the statement.

During 18-19 November 2023, Voter Registration Weekend, ID services will also be offered at all Home Affairs offices.

To aid voters who require assistance in retrieving their applied-for IDs or in obtaining Temporary Identification Certificates, Home Affairs offices will operate during the same hours as the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

Registration for voting can be done with these documents

The national and local elections of 2024 can be registered by qualified voters with these documents. Certificates of Temporary Identification are immediately granted.

The Department strongly advise any client who has applied for identification documents but has not received them after three weeks or longer to take advantage of this chance and visit their Home Affairs office to obtain these essential documents.
