NC father sentenced to SIX life terms for raping daughter

In a resounding victory for justice, the Upington Regional Court sentenced the father to SIX life terms for rape and three years for sexual assault.

The Upington Regional Court delivered a strong message against heinous crimes by sentencing a 43-year-old Northern Cape(NC) father to six life imprisonment terms for raping his own daughter, who fell pregnant with his child.

Additionally NC father has also received three years in prison for sexually assaulting her.

Mojalefa Senokoatsane, regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority(NPA), stated that the complainant was 14 to 15 years old when the incidents occurred in 2012 during school holidays in NC.

NC FATHER SEXUALLY ASSAULTS DAUGHTER DURING HOLIDAYS

The disturbing incidents occurred during the victim’s visit to her father’s place in De Aar NC during September 2012 school holidays.

While sharing a bed due to limited space, her father sexually assaulted her, said Senokoatsane.

“She initially resisted and protested, where he threatened to kill her if she refused to have sex with him. It is alleged that the accused had previously warned his daughter that he had murdered four persons.

Senokoatsane added that the girl never reported the abuse to anyone as she feared for her life.

VICTIM FALLS PREGNANT, LEADS TO ARREST

The victim’s pregnancy in May 2013 led her to reveal the horrifying truth to a trusted aunt. Law enforcement was notified, and charges were pressed against the father for six counts of rape and sexual assault.

During the trial, Senokoatsane stated that the defense contested the DNA results, despite the evidence confirming the accused as the father of the child born from the sexual abuse.

“The DNA analyst testified that they tested 16 DNA sequences instead of the eight alleles that was normally done, which confirmed with absolute certainty that the accused was indeed the father of the child.”

The complainant’s courage to testify against her abuser led to his eventual confession.

In a resounding victory for justice, the court sentenced the father to six life terms for rape and three years for sexual assault.

He is also prohibited from possessing firearms and will be listed on the National Register of Sex Offenders.
