Three trucks, a bakkie and nine light motor vehicles were involved in a collision on the N17 between Springs and Brakpan.

An adult male of unknown age was killed while seven other adults were injured in a multiple vehicle collision involving three trucks, a bakkie and nine light motor vehicles on the N17 between Springs and Brakpan in Gauteng. 

The accident happened on Saturday morning, 17 June. 

SEVEN INJURED IN MULTI-VEHICLE COLLISION BETWEEN SPRINGS AND BRAKPAN

According to emergency service ER24, paramedics were on the scene at 07:20 along with government emergency services. 

Poor visibility due to dense smoke is believed to have been a contributing factor to the multiple vehicle collision. 

The emergency service said several vehicles rear-ended each other and a large timber truck was found on its side at the scene.

“The deceased male was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved and he was declared dead on the scene.” 

One of the drivers, a woman in her 30s, was found to have suffered moderate injuries. She was treated and transported to hospital for further care. 

Six other adults were found to have suffered minor injuries and were also treated and transported to hospital by both ER24 and GPG for further care. 

ER24 said several other people were found with scrapes and bruises but they declined transport to hospital. None of the patients on scene were found entrapped.
