According to the Sunday Times, Motsoeneng is responsible for the SABC’s bleak financial position and the repercussions won’t be easy to deal with considering the national broadcaster’s difficulties in appointing capable leaders.
Motsoeneg was fired earlier this year, because he lied about his qualifications when applying for the top job at the SABC, and even though certain senior government officials rallied behind him, the Cape Town High Court ordered he be suspended.
Unfortunately the judiciary’s decision was too little and much too late, as he’s reportedly cost the broadcaster around R1.4 billion.
