More than 3 000 sexual-related charges against man from Garden Route
A man from George in the Western Cape is due to appear in the local Magistrates’ Court on Today, on an astonishing 3,033 sexual- and child pornography-related charges.
The 51-year-old suspect was accused of drugging his daughter’s underage friends during a sleepover at his home in the leafy Denneoord suburb in George. He then allegedly raped them, while capturing his deeds as well as other videos and images on camera.
The girls were between 10 and 13 years old when the alleged crimes were committed. It was alleged that this happened on more than one occasion between 2012 and late last year. The man was arrested almost a year ago, on November 28 2014, and was being detained since his arrest.
The suspect was yet to plead, and he may not be identified.
Most of the charges related to the manufacture and possession of child pornography. His first court appearance was on the 1st of December last year. Local media reported that he was severely assaulted by other awaiting trial inmates after his first court appearance, and required hospitalisation for head injuries and a broken arm.
The case has been postponed to November 30, 2015.
