The search for Joslin Smit (6) has morphed into a chaotic scene fueled by rampant misinformation on social media platforms.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, well-meaning individuals, and concerned citizens, the case has taken a troubling turn as fake information spreads like wildfire, complicating the search efforts and potentially impeding the investigation.
The question on everyone’s mind is what will happen next in the case?
It has been 13 days since Joslin was last seen in Saldanha Bay.
Police Minister General Bheki Cele and the management of the South African Police Service (SAPS) led by Provincial Commissioner Lt General Thembisile Patekile are expected in Saldanha Bay on Saturday.
According to police ministry spokesperson Lirandzu Themba, Cele will engage the community of Saldanha following false reports on the case.
“Minister Cele will also lead the police delegation in visiting the family of the grade one pupil and provide them with an update on the progress of the investigation into the disappearance of Joslin.”
Lirandzu Themba said.
