The Miss SA organisation has clapped back in defence of its latest crowned jewel Shudufhadzo Musida after she was scrutinised on social media for posting too many bikini pics amongst other things. The organisation has labelled it as “cyberbullying” and a “personal attack”.

Shudufhadzo Musida was crowned Miss SA on 24 October 2020 after a highly anticipated show that was live-streamed from the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town.

Miss South Africa Organisation CEO Stephanie Weil, in a statement, said;

“We have no issue with people questioning both ourselves as an organisation as well as reigning Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida. However, we do condemn personal attacks and cyberbullying”.

Weil went on to say that Shudufhadzo Musida is taking a well-deserved break after executing a gruelling timetable for the pageant and completing her Honours degree.

“In response to various social media comments around Miss South Africa posting images of herself in a swimsuit, taken at her apartment on the weekend, we would like to point out that Shudu has been on a well-deserved holiday after a whirlwind and demanding timetable following her crowning in October last year, a period in which she also completed her honours in International Relations at the University of Witwatersrand,” said Weil.

As previously reported by The South African, some social media users also had a problem with the fact that she was not doing enough charity work.

“In this time of Level 3 and encouragement to limit time mixing with crowds of people, she is adhering to advice and social distancing by spending time on her own. She has a number of engagements coming up as well as preparations for Miss World etc which will see her calendar extremely busy in the coming months,” added Weil.

While some social media users claimed Shudufhadzo Musida was only good for tweeting “nudes” and could not relay a “motivational message” in her role, others defended the reigning Miss SA by saying she can do what she wants with her body.

“The local girls are coming for Miss SA [because] she’s always in bikini’s, first of all, she has a banging body, second of all she’s allowed to do as she sees fit with her body. Stop policing people” said a social media user.

“If I had Miss SA’s body, I’d live in a bikini. People can seethe all they want,” another said.
