Former President Thabo Mbeki launched a vicious attack on uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) Party president Jacob Zuma and his breakaway party, saying that Zuma was wrong in his stance and it made no sense.

Mbeki addressed Wednesday’s annual lecture at the University of South Africa (Unisa). The Independent Online reported that Mbeki said it was a contradiction and a fallacy that anyone could be a member of the governing ANC while campaigning for another party to remove the ANC from power. ‘CAN’T BE AN ANC MEMBER AND CAMPAIGN AGAINST IT,’ SAYS MBEKI

“I am saying, in that context of what is happening in the country, how do we understand the breakaways?” asked Mbeki.
“You can’t say I remain a member of the ANC, but I am going to support a party that is going to campaign to defeat the ANC. That doesn’t make sense. One of those two things is wrong,” he added.

Mbeki also said that the MK party was led by the same people who tried to destroy the South African Revenue Services (Sars).
“In terms of these breakaways from the ANC, take that breakaway, you can understand that. It is led by the same people who tried to destroy Sars. This is exactly the same people,” he said.

MK YOUTH LEAGUE SAYS ‘ALL HELL WILL BREAK LOOSE’ FOR ZUMA

In December last year, Zuma announced that he would not vote for the ANC in the upcoming May general elections; he said that he would campaign for the MK party even though he insisted that he would remain a member of the ANC.
Earlier on Wednesday, during a media briefing in Johannesburg, the MK party youth league announced that they were putting Zuma’s name forward as the party’s presidential candidate.

MK party youth president Boonginkosi Khanyile said all hell will break loose if Zuma is not allowed on the ballot paper.
“We are unavailable to discuss in hotels or any other place; when you call and don’t say Zuma is President, we drop your call and block you,” Khanyile said.

ZUMA SUPPORTER NKOSENTSHA SHEZI DITCHES EFF FOR MK PARTY

Meanwhile, former Zuma supporter and leader of the Radical Economic Transformation group, Nkosentsha Shezi, is set to abandon the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to join the MK party. The Daily News reported on Wednesday that Shezi had already agreed to join the MK Party, and all that was left was for him and the party to make an official announcement.

“We were all taken aback when Shezi and Carl left on the eve of the MK Party launch, but we never gave up, and we continued pursuing them, but we have eventually won Shezi, and he is coming back to baba (Zuma),” said the source according to the publication.
